I was looking in Senichs book, but i could not find a scope that looks familiar
with that one you have postet. The turret on the scope (were you can adjust the range) looks strange to me.
The mounting looks like a short rail, but the screw, is also not that what i would expect on such a mount. There a a lot of fakes out there ...
German sniper scopes + mounts are hard to find items a this day, because most of them are in collections.
Ask the seller if you can more pics of the markings ....

the scope itself is a Carl Zeiss Zielvier. These scopes were indeed used by the German Heer and there are even pictures of Fallschirmjager in Crete using them.
I can see that there is some engraving on the dial housing which makes me think this was a civilian mounted scope. Gunsmiths used to put their logo or brand name on them when they mounted them on rifles for civilian use.
The mount is a so called "short side rail". It looks like it is a reworked 3rd pattern but for that I would have to see the base. Normally the mounts are numbered to the gun but I can;t see any evidence of that in your picture. Be also aware that the mounts are heavily reproduced and that a real one would bring a premium.
This set up as pictured would normally fit on any K98.

This looks to me to be one of the surplus swedish scopes of their M41 sniper rifle ( M96 6,5mm with SSR system ). A good many "fake" german snipers have been made using former swede issue scopes and bases.And thankfully the swede M41 bases and lever have differeing details which were not on german issue examples.Comment

Value is hard because we can't fully ID the scope. I agree with Ben, the scope appears to me to be civilian. With that it is worth between $200-$350 depending on condition of the glass. As for the mount.... verdict is out on this one...I personally think it is a repop but It's a coin flip, detail work looks good but unless you can really inspect them it's impossible to tell. Value on the mount is $100-$200. If it was authentic military you are looking at between $2000 and $3500.

the Zeiss Zielvier never had a focus adjustment ring. On the Zielvier this is accomplished by the little knob on top of the meter drum, which by the way is a typical and normal drum for a Zielvier as is the drum housing. The drums on the Zielvier came in different variations. As to the "no focus ring is always military", that only goes for the Ajack 4x90, Kahles Wien and Hensoldt scopes. The military Hensoldt is marked BMJ and the Kahles with CAD (except for the earliest Kahles military production scopes which still carry the full logo).
Having said this, when a scope does have a focus ring it does not have to mean that it wasn't produced or procured for military service. On only has to think of the SSR Ajack SS Dienstglas and the early SSR Hensoldts and Kahles scopes. When an early SSR is found it will most likely have a scope with a focus ring.
There are other indications that distinquish a scope with focus ring from being military or civilian.Comment
