Carcano Stock Marking Help

Does anyone know what this black symbol is? This is on a untouched/unsporterized 6.5 91/38 if that helps, otherwise, I've got nothing. Thanks!

I looked through my books and see nothing like it. Go to http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/ if you can't find the info you need. We have people (myself included) that collect these. There is an Italian forum there that you might find and answer.

Thanks for the responses, but I don't know if it's in ink. I was bidding on it online and lost, so I'm not too concerned at this point.

I think this model was issued to Japanese troops in WWII. These markings maybe Japanese.

Buckle, I had a suspicion this was the case, there was nothing in the sellers description to aid this theory though. Still, could be.

Post a pic of the whole rifle. It more than likely is a Type I not a 91/38.
