        Thanks for the clarification... I thought it had to be an original stock, not a repro.

          The BATF doesn't throw bones. It took the work of several dedicated collectors to get the law changed. Gun laws are a fact of life, and anytime the law is relaxed, the collector wins.

          Same with rifles with barrels shorter than 16 inches. At one time any rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches was illegal, but Winchester collectors got that changed so that rifles and carbines with barrels as short as 14 inches could be documented and made legal.
