                description of this rig

The pistol itself is a early 1933-34 production commercial model that has been highly engraved (outside the factory) with a traditional Germanic Oak Leaf and Vine engraving pattern with a punch-dot shading on the back ground, that covers 90% of the pistol itself. In addition the front grip strap is also engraved with two school symbols; 1) an upward point arrow, signifying the Officer's training school he attended and 2) the traditional "SS" runes below that. The right side of the frame has also been nicely engraved with the Owners name "T. Jensen" in a Germanic/Script pattern. The engraving was done outside the Mauser factory but is exceptionally well done, that was probably commissioned to a local engraver or family. The left side of the slide has the standard one line "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF a.N." with the right side marked "Cal. 7,65 D.R.P.u.A.P.". The left side of the frame and bottom of the magazine are both marked with the smaller Mauser Banner logo. The full serial number is stamped on the left side of the slide with the last three digits on the rear of the frame. It is fitted with a one piece wraparound walnut grip with checkered panels. As noted his personal photo album is leather bound and on the front cover is hand embossed with a the traditional "SS" Runes inside a shield in each comer, with a large Nazi Police Eagle emblem inside a shield directly in the center of the cover with his name "Thomas Jensen" embossed at the bottom.

Mmmm...I'm just not a believer. Also, only issued pistols would have been recorded in his Soldbuch...

SS and polizei? That is strange to me... I would put my bet that the whole grouping is faked...

You would think the SS runes on the grip strap would be more evenly engraved. Looks kind of sloppy. Ron

Privately purchased pistols were in fact listed in the Soldbuch. There is a prescribed (per regulations) way it is supposed to be entered and must be stamped and signed by the owner's commander.
