Hi Rene, here in the UK the price will vary. If the Sten is an old deact and will cock and strip I would expect to pay around £400, but under half that if is was "new spec" deact and welded solid. MkIII's have never been sought after as much as MkI, II's and IV's. Indeed, I have yet to get one myself.

            Hope this is of help?
            Cheers, Ade.

The seller obviously told you that Sten Mk3`s were issued to second line troops. Drivers, DR`s etc... They were rubbish weapons.

I have a Mk3 dewat that I purchased about a year ago for $220 USD. When I bought it I thought I was getting a Mk2. Upon recieving it I was disappointed when I saw it and it looked nothing like a Mk2. But now I do not feel so bad. I will post a pic or two when I get home from work tonight. It does strip down but when you cock the bolt back it will nto stay in battery since the sear has been removed from the trigger assy. It also has a different rear stock than the one pictured above.

Who did you get your's from? I too have a Mk3 that cocks, but the bolt doesn't stay back. I have the same rear stock however. Not a bad deact, but I would have preferred a Mk2 as well. I think I paid about $220 also.

I don't understand why you are so bothered that you go't mk3 instead of mk2.
I have one of each (both are live) and I am very happy to have the mk3 as there was aprrox 600 000 made while over 2 millions of the mk2.
I have fired both of the guns, and the MK3 is very nice to shoot with.
