Yep, seems that one was a bit tricky. At first glance I would have said it was a Bergmann LMG15 nA but I must agree it is not.

Are those really police even if it's dated from the mid 1920s? Those shakos have cockades on the chinstrap posts, plus a cockade about the shako plate. Looks more like a Guards MG unit to me circa WWI.

Not quite sure why Gran may think police but I'm terrible id'ing shakos need to study harder the uniforms do look W1 to me either Guard or Jager?
