    P38 color

    Hello

I would like to have your opinion on the color of this P38. It is usually assembled at the end of war. I know the color blue, or this one is darker. This is not very dark black arms returned from Ukraine or another, it is much clearer.

Is it possible to have a black finish with P38 at the end of war?

    Thank you in advance

NB: I put the P38 on several backgrounds and with different lighting to have a real idea of the color

In my opinion this gun was renumbered. The digits font doesn't look correct for a Walther made P38 and its style is not correct for an AC43. In addition, the numbers are much more deeper than the factory code and date, which could points to a refinish.

As always, I might be wrong, as the pictures are not the best.

i have to agree with Douglas, it looks refinished. in the process it looks like they tried to remove the AC 43 stamp. you can see sanding or grinding lines that did not polish out . i'm not familiar with the stampings on the trigger guard, but i assume thats when it was redone.

          Hi
Thank you for this beginning of information. It is true that figures are in-depth.

            Hi Douglas,

That pistol is a zero series Spreewerk and has an FN slide. The FN slides were originally made for Walther at Fabrique Nationale in Belgium. Those slides had serial numbers that were pantographed and were deep. The "ac43" stamp is so light (almost washed out) that I suspect the gun has been refinished. There are extra postwar markings on it that I don't recognize.

Here is a link to one that I had some time back: http://lmd-militaria.com/page0150.html

              Hi
Thank you for the internet link.
The state of the surface of the metal is different: that presented is not smooth, mine is very smooth. We can conclude that mine was redone on surface thus... that the color is can be no origin...
It is funny: there are just 131 weapons made between both.
              04049 U and 03918 U
Awls after war are to prove that the weapon is neutralized. Where I live, I have no right(law) to have these objects in good condition.

              Very thank's all

whoa sorry about my 1st post... I was looking on my phone and the pictures seemed much different.

I didn't notice the AC marking that was nearly gone, either...
