The other "oddball" that followed me home Swiss K31

Again, not my typical choice in rifle, but priced right, and I love the tiger striping in the wood, condition is excellent, and it had a price to match....I've read about the exceptional accuracy that these deliver, and I have yet to pull the buttplate to see if there is any info under it, but so, why not...except now I'll have to buy another set of dies, and brass...does it ever end?

      Oddball

I just titled this post "oddball" and couldn't help think of Oddball in the old Clint Eastwood movie, Kelly's Heroes......although K31's don't fall within my normal scope of collecting, this one grew on me pretty quick as well...

        Chris,

        I like these Swiss rifles.
        This one is a G11 and not a K31.

In the Swiss straight pull series you have 4 types of bolt.
G1889 has his locking lugs at the end of the bolt
G1896 improved bolt identical to the 1889 but with the lugs more foreward.
K31 shorter system with lugs completely foreward
K31/55 improved K31 bolt with 2 lugs in front and a 3rd one at the end.

        The G1896, G96/11, k11 and G11 have the 18896 bolt.

        FYI

          Chris,
These rifles are a joy to shoot, take one hunting especially for quick follow up shots I have a K31 ( some say these rifles are over manufactured) yours being earlier you get the beautiful "tiger wood". Please let us know how it shoots when you get around to it and YES they are accurate. Enjoy.
          All the best Steve.

Nope, it never ends!! Very nice example. I had a K31 years ago, but trust Frank if he says yours is a G11.
