MG34 Photos for rReview and Opinions

I would like opinions of the markings and serial numbers on this MG34. Are the serial numbers on the receiver and rear components original? It has WaA63 on the receiver which should make it a DOT gun. The barrel shroud is marked AR 41 and has the WaA26 which should make it a Mauser gun. The serial number on the barrel shroud appears under magnification to be lazer cut and not cut like the other numbers. The whole gun has been pollished and reblued obviously. The bakelite buttstock is not marked at all, should it be? Just trying to figure out how much of it is actually matching numbers and if anyone has any pics of true original markings to compare these to. The gun is registered and shoots very nicely.

Sorry to say I don't like those markings at all. I could be mistaken, because I haven't seen many ar but doesn't look like the usual markings. ar 41 would be correct for a Mauser Werke with WaA26 in 1941 but, as you say, seems polished and remarked. The receiver should match with the barrel shroud maker, unless it had been made up from spare parts. Buttstock should, originally, have the same number as the rest of the MG.


I've only got dot and dfb MG34s, so it's no help. Let's see if any other member has a ar41.

Incorrect font type

I'm afraid the font type isn't one used by any of the manufacturers of the time; leaving this a fantasy piece.
