    My MG42 bnz pj

Heres my latest adition to my collection, a German MG42 made by Steyr bnz with date code pj for 1944. It is in excellent condition with many german markings. It has a cof carl eickhorn trigger group with matching 1944 dated grips. cof carl eickhorn buffer release button.cof Carl Eickhorn top cover. Maget waa11 buffer body with Mauser waa26 buffer spring, A bpr Grossfuss charging handle. A dfb gustloff werk Late war greenish/clear phosphated bipod dated 1944 non-adjustable. also has its flip up rear Anti-aircraft site that is also of the late war type with smooth release button, it also appears to be of a greenish/clear Phosphated type. excellent wooden stock with typical waffenmeister added wire windings.

Whats quite unique is this MG42 has the Steyr waa623 waffenamt, and also a Maget waa11 Waffenamt at the top rear end of the receiver (my hand wasnt steady enough to get a good shot).

Its got a nice bla 1943 sling to go with it too

the MG42 has matching serial numbers on the receiver, top cover and Charging handle.

      Hello.very nice mg42 from Steyr!i mean this one is from the "b-serieal"."PJ - 7343 b - bnz"!?
Steyr an their electrically engraved Mg42.
sometimes a little bit difficult to detect.
has the recoil booster any markings?by the one picture it looks a little bit like a m53 sarac booster?!
the buffer body is not marked "WaA 11" but the marking is "WaA 177"
can you make better pictures from the WaA markings by the end of the receiver.
steyr receiver from 1944 have often markings with WaA623/WaA11 or WaA623/WaA4.

I really really like the MG-42, I was very fortunate to go live firing the MG-42 and 34 and I have to say it gave me chills to think of being an Allied soldier on the receiving end of the 42, what a brutal weapon it is... the sound of it screaming across a field sounds like a banshee and would just scare the life out of you... it is a very impressive weapon... but yeah I enjoyed shooting it... whew... very nice piece you have, I sure would like to have one....

Hi yes its a steyr bnz b block seriel number.
unsure on the recoil booster, it is unmarked with just a faint number 5 stamped on the end. i may change it for a german marked one eventually.
Yes i think you are right on the buffer body, on closer examination looks to be WaA177

i will try again on the receivier markings, but my hand shakes a bit and quite difficult to get a good shot - it has WaA623 on the left and WaA11 on the right on the top rear of the receiver.

Hello, That's a great looking 42, very nice. I have only heard of Steyrs with Waa4 and Waa623, and not that many of them, so Waa11 is a great find. I also have a PJ in the 'b' block, a little higher 8391b. The electro pencil markings on Steyr's 42s are not the best, on mine the 'bnz' looks more like 'dnz' until you give it a second look. Great stuff, Jonathan.

here are pictures of the receiver waffenamt markings, the waa11 is quite clear, but the waa623 is a bit warn/lightly struck, what is also quite uniqe is iv just found another waffenamt on the top of the top cover hinge - it seems to be an early drop wing Weimar period waffenamt, maybe a particular sub-contractor still used old Weimar period waffenamt? who knows

Very nice little beast !!! Can you unscrew the flash hider or is it welded in place?
If it unscrews can you take a photo of threaded end?
I have a thread running about flash hiders.
A lovely MG42 with some nice WaA marks.

the difference of a original mg42 flash hider to a yugo m53 sarac flash hider can you see by the knurled area.
the m53 sarac flash hider has a rough knurling as the original mg42 flash hider.
but there are differences of originals.thats came from the many subcontractors.
                          i know this six subontractors.

                          -WaA 4
                          -WaA 11
                          -WaA 79
                          -WaA 214 / duv
                          -WaA 279
                          -WaA 812 / fdu

but a original mg42 flash hider must not have a marking!!!
