How to dismount a MP40 handguard?

Hello guys,

I'm building my own MP40 with some parts found there and there, and today I found a part (pistol grip, lower receiver with trigger and handguard) all mounted together.
I would like to remove the handguard to fix it on the lower receiver I already own and that is in better condition, but I can't find how to do that!
Could someone explain me please?

Hi,
Are you trying to finish up with just the plastic handguard itself?
The trigger guard is removeable by undoing the small locking screw and its bigger screw at the front and the two sidescrews will release the handguard.
All that's holding the plastic to the lower receiver then is the large knurled (checkered) take-down catch underneath.
You have to drive though the pin from the side of the take-down knob which fixes it to the sprung-loaded plunger which engages with the upper receiver when the knob is turned to release it back up into the locking position.
Take care the inner plunger doesn't disappear due to spring pressure!
It's easier to demonstrate than write about!
