I thought, there were . . over the a. Didn't see that they are missing. Of course, then the spelling is not correct.

This faker copped the inscription from the famous Gommlich PP that is shown in Rankin. Tacky work and finish. The grip plates suck. I hope the f**ker went blind doing the work. Would deserve it pushing this c rap out to the collecting world. I am sick and tired of this. Probably came out of Florida.

This is an interesting situation. The James Julia catalog for the coming auction lists four engraved Walther pistols. Two are listed as Factory Engraved: a post war PPK and a pre-war PP with blued finish. Both the pistol in question here and another are not listed as "Factory Engraved". Only the pistols themselves are noted as Walther production. The one above is listed as an "INTERESTING AND EXCEPTIONAL ENGRAVED NAZI ERA WALTHER PP WITH CASE". Apparently in vetting the material, the staff at Julia realized that the engraving of this pistol is a seemingly exact duplication of the engraving and inscription banner of the famed Gommlich pistol pictured in several books. And they no doubt realized that the silver plating of the gun was not a factory option offered by Walther before 1945.
