    German Hensoldt - Wetzlar scope

I've a friend that thinks this is a WW2 German sniper scope.... true? It does have a single post reticle but without any distance markers; just a post.

There's no mount or anything else. I find that Hensoldt also sold/still sells scopes post WW2.

I have little experience with such as this and generally don't collect German rifles but I thought I'd ask.

Here is a small slide show for said scope with some close ups:

    any help appreciated....

It is a commercial hunting scope, likely to be prewar.
