    Lewis Gun Article

For those that have an interest in the Belguim Rattle Snake, this article was recently released by a noted New Zealand collector.
It is believed that there is only 25 Lewis guns in NZ, 10 being in private ownership.

I had a phone call from a guy who shall remain nameless, wanting to purchase mine on behalf of a collector. Was willing to pay twice the amount I paid 6 years ago...
I am delighted to hear that there are only 10 in private hands! LOL.

I think Peter Jackson has most of 'em...correct?

Yes, prices have gone through the roof with Lewis Guns in NZ. I was speaking to a dealer who sold one recently ( complete with spares and transit case ) for NZ$25K and it wasn't a NZ marked gun.
I've been to a couple of auctions up & down the country when PJs armourer has been bidding on Lewis guns. The funny thing is, once he starts bidding, everyone else stops bidding, I guess not seeing the point in continuing as he's going to win the auction regardless.
Prices on these classic's are only heading in one dirrection but I'm sure they will reach their limit.

Hi Mike. I was offered 30k! I don't imagine the prices will climb much further. How many guys have that kind of dosh? Mine, by the way, is not Kiwi marked. The transit case is marked Rajputnic Rifles, or some such. Ex Indian, obviously.

          Hi Ted
I thought 15k would have been the limit a couple of years ago but who knows. Should have bought one myself years ago when I had the chance !
I'd certainly have a crack at one now if it had any NZ provenance but wouldn't spend that amount for the sake of owning an example without provenance.

Watched a few of your vids earlier on changes to arms laws. Not to bad, some very valid points.
It'll be a cold day in hell before politicians listen to common sence though.

          Cheers
          Mike
