Hi,
The widow of a late friend found a deactivated SMG/MP when clearing out the loft (as one does!).
I can't provide a picture but hopefully my attempt at a description may be sufficient and maybe someone more knowledgeable can respond with a picture.
It looks to be in 9mm calibre with the magazine feeding from below as on an MP40 (the mag is very similar to an MP40 mag).
The barrel is plain and tapered and retained in the receiver body by a two-flat nut, again similar to an MP40.
The foresight is mounted on the the top of the front end of the receiver tube not on the barrel.
To the left side above the flat-sided pistol grip is a safety catch/full/semi auto button marked (if I remember correctly) R S T or T S R? It would seem to slide forward or to the rear if operational.
The bolt knob is on the left-hand side as on an MP40 and indeed looks very like that of the MP40 engaging with a safety notch in the forward position.
There's a strange button (?) at the rear end of the receiver tube which looks sort of triangular viewed from the side with flat sides to left and right.
The wire stock pulls straight out to the rear and seems to be locked in forward or rear position by a push-through sprung button above the pistol grip area that looks as though it engages with two semi-circular grooves in the underside of the wire stock.
I couldn't see a maker's mark on it anywhere but stamped in the left-hand side of the magazine well were a couple of numbers with "M4" amongst them?
If anybody can identify it I'd be much obliged.
Finally, any idea of the value? The bolt is welded in the forward position and the trigger does not move ( a "new-spec" de-act?).
Here's hoping - thanks in advance!
Grossfuss
