    Great Find

Great find Joe.I bet your heart was pounding when you pulled the pistol out, not at the time you knew what kind because of the wrappings.
Did you find this overseas or in Canada?
I would be carefull and not tell tell many locals in the area or give out the complete sn# of the weapon, or someone may try to lay claim to these great items.
Once again, Congrats on a true treasure find. Regards; Danny

Thanks Danny, it was my friend Jan who found these items in Europe! (I can only wish here in Canada). Jan and I detect whenever I get there (he lives very close to my family). I found several small arms there also, but my P08 was definitely in rough shape. Jan's here is gorgeous!! I am also curious to see the Stg44 pouches and mags closeup as well. Thanks for looking!

Where was this treasure trove found?...country...nearest city?

Congratulations, I metal detect for coins/jewelry and get excited when I find items from the last century. I can't imagine finding items like that.

I've been sworn to secrecy regarding the exact location, but it is in the Czech Republic . Jan and I have had incredible luck over the years, many of my finds I have posted. But Jan is the true master of metal detecting, and his collection is truly astonishing and amazing

I am waiting for pics of the cleaned up Luger, as well as the Stg44 mags and pouch. Jan sent me an email of the details this morning. He was hunting with a friend and this is how he described it "...totaly 4 boxes found - 2pcs found by my friend, 2pcs found by me. His
two boxes contained only ammo. I found at least 20 buttons and
that SS textile rank tab close to it and near the tree I found
Sachson brass belt buckle. At the beginning of the road (near the
field) he found Astra 600 pistol, SA sport badge and Police
belt buckle. Two or three hundred metres from that Mysak found
P08 mag. And some SS ID tag was found by him here too. "

Like everyone else, I too am amazed by this finding! Finding a luger in the ground is one thing, but finding one that is even reconizeable (you can see that it is a 1941 Mauser banner!) is quite amazing!

Right now, I am filling my pants with excitement, at the same time my emotions are filled with envy!

Unfortunately, when I was in the military, I never got stationed in Europe. Instead I was sent to the other side of the globe, Japan. I spent three years searching battle sites on Okinawa. I found tons of stuff, including grenades, artillery shells, Japanese "knee" motar, Japanese artillery gun, gas masks, a few medals, lots of those weird Japanese boots, bullets, Type 14 pistol (what was left of it anyways), Japanese sword (what was left of it), and yes, even human remains. And I never even used a medal detector!

Yet, none of it was in any good condition. I only kept a coupld of things; one Jpanese medal that was still in the bamboo case, and is still minty shape, one Japanese plate that is lovely as well, but does have one small crack in it, and a few bullet casings.

Jan, you truely had a very very very, lucky day! My hat's off to you!

Yep, this is the stuff that most of us can only dream about. Hats off to you guys, and keep coming with the photos!!! We are green with envy!!
