Correct, back in the day some mg dudes made their own but were solid that may be where the 'still lethal' thing came from btw its you 42 boys who have shot them all up that's why us maxim dudes can't find any Lol!
Further at gigs I've seen guys injured by pieces of brass fired from crimped blanks of poor quality as a guarantee one should never point directly at someone my rule is no higher than the 'ball sack' at 50ft+ and no lower than 12ft at close range with a rifle or sidearm a slight adjustment if the dude 'opposite' is a lawyer by profession.

All the best for 2013 Gents

I met one WWII 506th PIR ,101st ABN "Screaming Eagle" vet who showed me the wood tipped 7.92 ammo he says he took from a captured German during the war. It's on display in the Camp Toccoa Museum, Toccoa, GA. Despite this vet telling me this, i still have my doubts about this ammo being intentionally used in combat.

I've also seen wood tipped ammo being fired in an MG42 and in an SVT-40 for blank fire. Quite an impressive muzzle flash it makes!

I have a TNW semi-auto MG34 that I use original WWII German 2-piece blank barrels in and have had very good luck with special 17 grain crimped blanks which are pretty hot. I see that some of you have used the Egyptian wood tip blanks and I was wondering if they would work properly with my original 2-piece barrel or are they too hot?? I have heard that the Egyptian wood tips may be too hot a load.

              Thanks,
              Eric
