WWI Imperial German Gew 98 or 88 sling question

I got this sling, it is in very good condition, but I am not sure what exactly rifle does it go too. I am thinking WWI Imperial German Gew 98 or 88 sling, but I am not sure so any help would be great. I now they are hard to find, especialy in this condition. Thank you

I had never seen that kind. I would say it is a Gew 98 modified sling.

It is for the Portugese "M37" contract Mauser pattern. I think (but am not sure) that the slings were made in Germany and delievered with the rifles.

I just was not sure what it was for. The construction of them it does look German.
