    New Production Semi Mp40

    Hi Guys,

I work for one of the biggest importer and exporters of firearms on the East coast. I have brought up the idea of building Semi Automatic MP40's and we are exploring the idea. What I was wondering is if we do start producing new production Semi Automatic Mp40's would you buy one? What would you be looking for in our product? What would be the most you would be willing to pay for one? If we start to make brand new parts would you buy spares for your already existing fully automatic Mp40's and or Semi Automatic Mp40's. What kind of features would you want or look for in the product? Any thoughts or comments would be gratefully appreciated. All thoughts and ideas will be brought up to our board of development group. I have posted on other forums and we want all your opinions and thoughts to go into this project to make it happen. We want to work for you and make a better product and get in touch with the consumer. Also, to make the project happen we want to know what the sort of demand is out there for this type of product. We have to know how many we would be able to sell out on the market per month to know if its worth investing in such a gun.

    Thank you
    Benjamin Bruner

To look as close to original, 9mm and also converter kits to .22, those are few things of top of my head.

      Mp

I would like to see a semi receiver/trigger group that could be compatible with an original parts kit. ..Just a thought...Price point under 2k would be nice.

NOT and I do mean NOT with a ridiculous looking 16 goddam inch barrel! I loathe the Thompsons they make with the 16 inch barrels already. I wonder if you make manufacture it as a handgun without the stock? this would preserve the look of the wartime MP- 40 IMO.

          Close to orig

As stated, close to the original as possible. Folding stock, 32 round magazines, size and weight, and manufacturers logos not emblazoned like a plaque on the receiver or elsewhere. 9mm with. 22 long availibility would be a plus also. I recently purchased an MP44 Sturm in less desirable. 22 long and would most certainly be interested in purchasing a model like the MP38/40.

Its been done. SSRoom did it a few years back. Might want to look into that. The big thing comes down to price...

well, price is everything. I'm really dismayed to pay through the nose for a repro. All in all, It's a 9mm shooter to have fun with, whether it looks like an MP-40 or not, I don't want to shell out over a grand for something I'm just gonna take to the range and fire for fun. There are lots of other shooting irons I could get for that kind of money

                  ValhallaMilitaria makes a good point.

To allow a folding stock, the manufacturer would have to add a longer barrel so it's not considered a SBR.

Are you guys licensed to manufacture NFA items?

pinned folded stock so technically a pistol - this way you keep the barrel length, without entering the special tax bracket - which is simply not an option in many states.

Price - around $1000 - any more it is no longer a toy.

Cycle - if it can cycle reliably with blanks this would be good.
The semi Thompsons, UZI's, 1919's and certain other SMG to semi conversions are problematic with blank ammunition, and require quite a lot of tuning - if you can sell a blank fire set up - like the tommygunner.com easy springs, blank fire only barrel, etc., It might be good.

                    Pit.

I believe German Sporting Guns will be bringing out the .22 cal semi auto MP40 late in 2013. The need will be filled for an economical lookalike and plinker. I do not know what they will do about barrel length, but interchangeable barrels, like the UZI, would be something to think about. A short non-useable display barrel and a quick change to longer barrel, via barrel nut, when firing the piece. In the US, there is no way to avoid the 16 inch barrel rule for rifles and no way to stock a pistol with a barrel shorter than 16 inches. I don't think there is any way to move the action back to compensate for the longer barrel being obvious. I think the display barrel would satisfy most

You guys are dreaming for $1K price tag. When SSroom did theirs, they came out with three versions. SBRs, Pistols (fixed stocks) or Rifles (ant eater barrel). They had a preproduction price of $2k and were up to $2.6k when they got called up and had to go to the big sand box and so production stopped. I think IO had the import German ones at $5k or so as pistols. I sold my SBR MP40 for $2900 I think a few years back.
