    Tulsa Show Pickup

I just got back from the Tulsa Show yesterday . With 4000 tables and 7 miles of aisles it's quite a hike. I did manage to pick up this pistol rig. I've always had a soft spot for Browning Model 1922's and the holster in this case did it for me.
It a common WA140 but the condition is uncommon with 98% original blue. I didn't even notice the stamping inside the pebbled holster flap near the "bdr 44" until I examined it under magnification at home nor did the seller obviously know since it wasn't mentioned.

Thanks for the comments. Does anyone know who the "bdr" code belongs to or anything about the lightly stamped code to the left?

Good looking set-up - these little Brownings are underrated.

Dunno if they are underrated, or if those $30k gold plated PPs are just overrated.

But I guess it is this market (supply and demand) thing I never really understood in economics classes. So I just buy and never sell...

Pre-war FNs (all models) are pretty common here in Finland, but these war-time WaA-stamped versions are pretty darn rare.

You could buy these waffenamped Model 1922s for a long time in the $250 to $350 range without a holster of course. I have watched them continue to go up in price over the last several years while most everything else was either staying the same or going down in price.
I think the understanding that these were much utilized during WW II and the fact that they were a viable police issue weapon up into the 60s in much of Europe has contributed to their increasing value.
However; Keep in mind that these were made for use by the Nazis in the untold thousands. The highly embelished and cased PP that is on display in another thread is scarce and the number produced was small and generally they were made for presentation to a notable person. This,to me, makes it a highly desirable specimin and it would be the focal point of most collections. There is and never will be a comparison as these pistols are in two separate collectors markets.

                      true

Very nice pickup. I've been seeing a lot more of these for sale also with much higher pricing then they used to be. I suppose everyone centered on Luger, P38's, PPK's and such and these flew under the radar for many years. They are finally getting more recognition, Congrats on your addition.
