Be sure to take a look at the inside of the holster, down in the "toe" portion and in the mag pouch; I have seen a number of vet bring-back holsters where the vet folded up the "Capture Papers" and stuffed them into the toe of the holster (or, occasionally, in the mag pouch) as a way to post-war preserve what the vet considered to be essential paperwork. Who knows, you might find a little bonus stuffed inside your holster.

That is an excellent point and something I have expereinced on multiple occassions. Not always "Capture Papers" though. Sometimes other docs and papers often belonging to the German soldier who carried it.

He was "older" than most to be drafted? I think I saw online he passed away in 1998.

He was 33 which wasn't that old and though married had no children and apparently his job wasn't essential to war production.
