    k98 - a little help please

I'm thinking about getting this k98, it is a Russian capture by the looks of it, but, it is in very good condition and it is cheap enough.
It is a 1938 (42) mauser and seems to have matching stamped numbers 9152 (There are no elctro pencil numbers).

The pictures aren't great, but they were the best I could do on the mobile phone.

    Questions:
1.Are the serial numbers original? or would it have been re-numbered by the Russians?

2.I assume it has been re-blued and the stock has been varnished?

    3.Is the stock correct?

4.I notice there is a groove for a hood on the front sight. Is that a standard modification for a 1938 rifle?

Basically any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. Anyone know of a website where the different developements of the k98 is shown clearly?

Numbers on the bolt parts and bands are restamped for sure. Rifle is reblued. Hard to tell about the stock, but most likely it is a mismatch too.

I don't believe that a 1938 k98 should have slots for a sight hood. Must have been done by the Ruskys. Is the stock force numbered on the left side?

Looks like it's definitely been re-stamped to match the serial numbers and re-blued.

                        Thanks for the comments,

There is no number stamped into the stock.

Would it be worth considering getting for shooting? Everything is nice and tight and clean and the bore is wonderful.

What is the value of these RC ones?

                          They go for 350-450
