What do you guys think about this g43- think its been sanded? i am wondering if it has been lightly sanded or just wear? I see these little round swirl marks (3rd and 4th pic)making me think someone applied BLO and used steel wool to buff it down to a less shiney finish? i am just not feeling right about the stock on this one. I am used to seeing eagles/ waffenampts on the right side of the stock most of the time. The buttstock looks like it might have evidence on sanding in 2 different directions on the lower part of the buttstock near the buttplate

i was thinking the same thing regarding the vertical "chatter" marks but the fine lines looked to me like sanding back in the day as the few dings and wear are on top the fine lines. but the swirl marks i dont know how to explain

I'm just going based on my experience with late war stocks on K43 rifles, and other German stocks. This one is typical of the type, some are better finished at this point, some not so much. Also, looking at the inspections and serial on the stock side and bottom make me think its unsanded, plus the sling cutout right above the side inspection. The vertical sanding marks are typical of factory sanding marks. As to circular marks, I don't really see what you are talking about unless you are asking about the darker marks, looks like some kind of handling damage to me. It's a nice looking rifle for sure.
