Opinions on this very rare holster AKAH THEUERMANN for the Walter PP ?

    Hello

What is your opinion for this very rare holster AKAH THEUERMANN for the Walther PP ?

Is it ww2 period, for the army, or paramilitar or civil organisation or ???

    Or post WW2 ?

    Many Thanks

    Phil

No to your last question. IMO yes to all the others.

Have handled several rigs in brown Theurmann holsters over the years from out of the wood work that contained pistol combinations commercial and military. All showed physical evidence in the holster and on the pistol that they had been a unit for a long time. None of the pistols were branch or org specific. Absent evidence that all brown Theurmanns were procured by a specific org - I would view it as a rare but otherwise generic PP or small/medium auto holster that could have found its way to a lot of owners/orgs.

Based on the design patented in Sept 1940 by Arved Theuermann in Kiel. This was a commercial model holster that officer's could buy. There even was a P08 holster with this drop-down feature, which in the inventor's words was supposed to allow the wearer to draw his pistol without raising the elbow high to chest level, which gave the asailant a chance to grab the elbow and disarm the wearer of the gun.
The only military issue holsters that adopted this design were the small caliber pistol holsters issued to Luftwaffe pilots.

Though not "military"', the state agency RSHA under SS control authorized the procurement and issue of the black PPK version of this Theuermann design holster. The designs also included holsters for the HSc and Hi-Power.
