I do have a Norinco remake and do enjoy shooting it. There was a shotgun collector back where I went to college and he always had several for sale. I wish I had the money back then to get one, I haven't been back up there for years due to deployments and being stationed far from home. Perhaps someday i'll get a real one for a reasonable price. I have only had one experience with armourers that do films.

In the Canadian film Passchendaele the armourers were looking for a full auto Lewis gun in .303.
As it happened the fellow that I got my PPSh-41 from had a nice one so a deal was concluded and it was used in the film.
I don’t know if this was my friend’s Lewis gun.
They were cleaning one while using another.

As I was looking for stuff regarding M97 trench guns I tripped over a critique of the accuracy of the weapons used in the film Windtalkers.

It is interesting reading written by purists commenting on where the movie went right or wrong regarding the guns that were used.

The Battle for Saipan took place in 1943.
This is the critique of this film as far as weapons go.

I suspect that this is done with most war movie productions….you just have to find that critique.

I think I remember John from Marstar once saying that he provided many of the guns that were used in production of Saving Private Ryan.

              Model 97

Don't forget the 1969 "The Wild Bunch". Warren Oates and Ben Johnson as the Gorch brothers did some real carnage with th eModel 97.

I recently grabbed a Winchester 1897 Riot Gun, said to have been given by a paratrooper to a civil in Normandy in 1944.

It does not bear US military stamps but only the regular Winchester factory stamps.
Do you think that this "story" is credible?

The shotgun is in beautiful condition and shoots straight. I love to use it.

I am looking for parts in order to convert it into a trench gun. Do you know where to look at?

                Thanks.

                Simon
