U.S.Small Arms Co - Pocket Knife & Pistol

In trying to research this fairly unusual item, manufactured somewhere between 1914 and 1923, I have not been able to find anything regarding the Caliber being anything other than .22 This example is 5mm and wonder if any Forum Member can offer any reason for this, or comments? Many thanks, Clive.

          neat item

I assume you have contacted the Johnson Smith Company?
I was getting their newer brochures in the mail for years and if they are still in biz then either them or the US Patent office might help.

My guess would be that particular one was made for the European market and was marked for users of the metric system.

            .22 cal. = 5.56mm

just a WAG on my part...

Thank you for your comments, it is quite possible that the 5mm caliber was made for the European market, but not been able to find anything to confirm one way or the other. A thought that occurred to me was if this small knife-pistol was the inspiration behind the later O.S.S. WW2 .22 "Stinger"? There are similarities in operation and of course the round fired.
