Somebody tell me how and why this detail is used to flare gun? A ttached to the trunk level for vertical shooting. Need information or photo .... thanks ....

It looks like some variation of the device used to secure the flare gun to a tree or log for use in a fixed position or with a trip wire.

It is called an Einspannklaue mit Baumschaube, and yours is a Double Jointed Tree Spike with Flare gun clamp and sight.

There is also a single Jointed tree spike that was manufactured.

It is fairly rare, although a number of these are now turning up all over Europe, and Russia, as thanks to recent books, and the Excavation and exploration of old battlefields.

Could you picture any markings on your example please ??

It could be used as a trip flare among other uses.

I've seen a couple of these in an advanced collection here in California. He had numerous mint examples of flare guns with all the accessories like this.
