    MP43 Erma

    Hi Guys,
I recently got hold of a genuine MP43, made by Erma. It was manufactured at the beginning 1944, which shows by the MP44 style barrel (stepped) and the front sight base. The butt is still (and correct) the slighlty bigger one compared to the MP44 which was made smaller in order to fit the brackets in cars, which normally housed the K98 rifle butts.
Only downside is that - while I am waiting for my permit to arrive - this wonderful weapon needs to get "reworked" in order that it can only fire on semi-auto setting. Full auto is prohibited in our silly country Belgium. Another problem which my armourer encountered is that at the Belgian Proving Institution, they refused to perform this reworking since they "can"t find this weapon on our list of known ordonance weapons"! Would you believe this!!!
So we have turned to the Beschussamt in Köln where they can do this and then we have to take it back to Liege to have it checked and stamped. That should do it so when I am lucky I can try my MP43 out around Christmas!
Let me have you r views and comments boys! I am now looking for genuine magazine pouches...

      Forum rules my ...

Right then, it seems one now has to be associate member in order to post attachements...
Fine, only that, to become AM and pay those $20 one needs to click on the specific link... BUT!, when one clicks on that highlighted link on the Forum Rules page, it is rejected by IE/Google

So the only alternative left is to inform all thos e interested to drop me a line via the private message box and then I'll send the "forbidden pictures" to your personal mailaddress.
      What a shame

I would love to see some pictures, Freewillingen!

How cool, tell us more, I am also interested to know how one goes about buying these in Belgium - from your perspective of course.

How much was it? Where did you find it? What else is available and how much?

Don't sweat the lack of full auto: if it's done discreetly - it is only the removal of a small component inside the lower receiver and a small block welded in place that can't be seen from outside.

The Mag pouches are crazy expensive in the US, and so many incredible fakes available. I imagine they are just as desirable in the Eu.

        Pit.

          Hello Der Freiwillige,

You can store your pics in an extrenal photo web and link them to your post also. The only problem is that when you delete them there they wil be lost for this thread.

As I'm willing to see the pics, I'll PM you and I can post the for you, if you wish

To make it into a semi-auto is not really the issue from a technical point of view. It's easy enough. Thing is that the Belgian "Banque D'Epreuves" where all firearms in Belgium gave to be registered and - if required - proofed, told my armourer who went there with an M1 Carbine (my second purchase) and the MP43, that they were unable to perform the technical requirements on the MP43 for the reason that this weapon doesn't figure on the list of "known" weapons. Which is both unbelievable as well as unacceptable.
That's whh we take the German route and will ask the Köner Beschussamt ro do it. We only need a 1-day export / import license for this, and afterwards we need to go back to Liege of course where these monkeyfaces will hopefully put the official stamp on the receiver and have it registered. Indeed, this is Belgium for you!

I forgot to add that normally, they will take out the small rod which runs diagonally above the receiver and when removed, prevents the autofire mechanism to function properly. Strictly speaking the weapon is as such not really "damaged" but we all know that any handyman would find it not too difficult to restore the weapon into its original state. But that would be illegal and when caught would be the start of hell! Having said this, for some collectors a weapon with anything permanently removed or welded has no collecing value... One has to make choices of course. That's life...

                            Hi,
I am buyng these from my armorer at €54 for 100 (Partizan Prvi) which seems to be the most reliable currently on the market. Not too cheap but still manageable.
                            Cheers. DF
