Best P-38 Ammo

What is the best ammo (as far as grain etc) to put thru a wartime P-38. Thanks

I shoot 124 grain full metal jackets in mine with no problems. No +P or hollow points. Regards Chris

I put a box or 115 grain ammo thru mine and had a jamming problem every so often. I think I'll go to the 124 grain. thanks

Same here. The Germans originally used 124 gr. bullets btw.


Sometimes however I have problems with jamming. It only happens when I pull the slide back and release it in order to load the first round into the chamber. It NEVER jams while shooting. I don't know why it sometimes jams with the first round? I have a Mauser P38v and a Walther "non V" magazine. It doesn't change anything if I switch them around.
