    Luger WWI 1918

    Hi all.
This is one of my Luger.
What is your opinion of it?.
I like it, but, I would like to see the opinion of experts, please.

    Thanks, best regards.

Well, pictures are not the best, but, from what I can see this Luger was buffed and refinished, and it not a matching gun. The small parts like the trigger, safety and take down levers, extractor and magazine catch should be atrawed. The barrel came from a commercial pistol (c/N proofed), the receiver came from a DWM gun, while some several small parts came from an Erfurt-made Luger.

In addition several parts were clearly forced matched (for instance, the suffix letter NEVER was applied on the left side of the receiver) as you can see that there are different fonts for numbers.

Sorry for the bad news, but for most collectors this is a shooter grade pistol.

    All the best,

    Douglas

      I agree with Douglas.
      Just for the record:
I'd personally rather see a "brown" gun or one with no finish rather than an example clobbered like this one. I think most of the collecting community would subscribe to this opinion.

I've changed the exhaust to avoid breaking the original extractor gun to shoot.

The luger if it has been polished and lacquered and is very nice, but the pictures are not good.

Worst of all is the bad news about the numbering of the pieces...
Can you provide any opinion on the marking of the regiment? (Pi.B.1.58.) please.

          Thanks, regards.

The unit marks means Pionier Battaillon 1 weapon 58.
