      Depends on the manufacturer.

It's Mauser; see the title of the thread.
        I believe 655 would work.

Rod depends on what stock you have..

Well the stock has the cupped buttplate and is original so 12" would be correct from what I've gathered.
Anybody have any idea where I can get an original?

found 655 capture screws on ebay and have an original sling purchased off this forum.

all I need now is a cleaning rod.......

The stock isn't original on RC's.
They can have any stock on them.

Why are you putting original parts on a RC?
They make repro parts for those guns..

ok? I thought I could put whatever parts I like on the rifle... ?

so this 1940 mauser doesn't appear to have a front sight hood notch... I figured it would have this?

Early 98k rifles =1940 and earlier for the most part did not have the cut-out for the sight hood.

Ok.. things I read said they started in 1940?
                      Guess I have a sight hood I don't need
Seller on ebay assured me its original.. I'm not so sure. now it's unimportant since I don't need it.
                      anybody need one?

thanks for all the info everyone..
took it out and fired it.. that 8mm round is no joke and accurate to boot.
my wife even took a few shots

the bore is a little rusty but the rifling is solid. it's a good shooter. next purchase will be a "safe queen" k98.
