    Mauser Barrel Shank Markings

    Hello;
    I'm trying to find out what a certain marking/character on the receiver end of a Mauser rifle barrel might stand for. It looks like a anchor over a five pointed star. I know there is a site that lists the codes for the plants, but can't locate anything on the characters. Is there a good reference for this?I will try to post a picture of this soon. Thanks for any help in advance

    With out pictures, it would help if you posted the year and code of the rifle..

    Sounds like a barrel supplier..
    My guess is bcd42-43

      Barrel Markings

      Also an area of interest for me especially for re-arsenalled barrels. You have to post clear pictures so the experts here can help.

        sorry for the delay on this with the pictures. I went looking for 3 other barrels I had which I figured might help for reference. These are just the barrels I have, not complete rifles.

        The first barrel pics are for the one I initially had a question on

        This set is "C" lettered, with all the markings on the barrel shank I could find.

        "A" barrel

        another question on this barrel....how common is it to have markings on both sides of the elevation slide?

          you are showing photos of of yugoslavian made barrels.these are postwar barrels from postwar yugo reworked K98 rifles.the "anchor over star" mark is actually the postwar yugo "star over T" proof firing mark.the letters enclosed by the geometric shapes are cyrillic letters.
          the rear sights along with other parts were removed from damaged WW2 german K98 rifles.the back side of the sight leaf was not marked starting in 1942 and varied from one manufacturer to another.
