Any Value to US M1911 Magazines?

    Any Value to US M1911 Magazines?

    I just found three US M1911 clips and was wondering if there was any value in them as I was thinking of listing them on estand. I know nothing about them, probably post-WWII but no idea. What would be a fair price for three fairly generic clips?

    It all depends on what you have. In the past few years there have been a flood of post Vietnam GI magazines on the market plus a flood of even cheaper knock-offs. Some of the knock-offs don't even function reliably. $5 up depending on what you have.

      I'll try to post a picture a bit later. They are unmarked as far as I can see (except two have a number engraved on the side). They did come from a collection of items from a man who was a cop and an officer in the National Guard in the 1950s - 1970s. I'm pretty sure they aren't anything special but was kind of wondering if it was worth listing them or just pitching them.

              Look on top of the toe of the magazine baseplate. If WWII military will have a small R, S, L, or G.

              In the first photo, does the bottom magazine have a spot welded seam down the back?

                One magazine has an "S" stamped on the toe, the other two have no stamps. And yes, the one clip does have a welded seam down the back.

                  The General Shaver magazines had a welded seam down the back, but they also had a G stamped on top of the toe.

                  The S is for the Scovill Manufacturing Co. who made magazines in WWII. The original finish would be blue on a WWII magazine, and phosphate would indicate salvage and refinish.

                    There might be a G stamped on it but I can't see it. It is a bit dirty so it could be hiding or faintly stamped.

                      If the Scovill is still blue, it could be a $25/30 magazine, but if refinished about half that. The others appear to be aftermarket, and $5/10.
