I know it is a mismatch but I still like it. I always had a soft spot for these rifles.
    Nice rifle Ron.

Nice rifle but I don't think the buttplate belongs to it, but to a late 98k

Great rifle and Alpine collection - and great photos! Maybe I'll find one someday. Thanks for taking the time to share.

I do like the G33/40. Mine has the 2 piece finger jointed stock which is not commonly seen.

I often wonder why was it deemed necessary to have the extra plate screwed onto the left side of the butt next to the shoulder cup . Anyone enlighten me ?

I have a nice DOT 42 brought home by a neighbor.
He took it from a FJ in France.
I saw it when i was in high school and worked for him.
35 years later I got it and a nice older Drilling from his niece.
                            Lightweight with substantial recoil.

Extended bootplate is for securing the butt from nails of boots of Gebirgsjaeger , even secondly for use in montain. b.r.Andy

Here are some pics of my UK deactivated G33/40. It has had a repair at some point to the furniture (wartime or postwar) where another G33/40 has donated its rear butt and stock, but the hand grip forward and top are original to the gun. As noted, these are very sparsely numbered compared to a K98, but all metalwork numbered parts match. It also has the rear cleaning rod, and, for the UK, is noteworthy as not being a Norwegian postwar refit, which many on the market here appear to be.
