This holster was not made for luger but someone been using it together for a while as you can see the shape of the luger on the holster.

          Hi

I thought Radom holsters have the closing strap mounted
to the body and the stud on the flap?

Larsen, the Luger's condition might be partially due to being stored in that holster.

                Regards,
                Frank

And this is always an interesting topic to consider, I have a friend with an arsenal refurbished 1911 .45 with a 1916 dated flap holster which his father was issued as a Captain in the medical corps during ww2, the gun is parkerized and has been in that holster since the war....with no appreciable rust etc. I imagine that the parkerizing is the reason for this? While I do not advocate and nor do I store guns in the leather, there are examples of such being done without harm to the weapon.

The leather can absorb moisture if in a humid area. Why take the chance and have a guns finish ruined by poor storage.

If the pistol is stored where it goes through large temperature swings, a cold pistol forms condensation as the surrounding air warms up. The holster holds this moisture against the pistol and rust forms.
