    K98 help needed

I recently bought a k98 rifle, it's a Russian capture rifle. When I first used it I used old yugoslav surplus ammunition dated 1954 and suffered quite a few hang fires. Today I fired it again using factory made prv partisan 8x57 ammo. I had no hang fires but the rifle loses it's first stage pull on the trigger. Anyone got any reason for this to happen, it has a normal two stage using the old Yugoslav surplus. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hi, its great fun fireing this rifle. Common problem is what you describe. Just a note from here: Dont use ammo produced 1946-1954 or so. Common problem i think. Best Thormod

Strange. The type of ammo should have no effect on the trigger pull. Better have a gunsmith check it out. Keep us posted.

Hi, another 2 cent's: I used ammo from 1947-1951 and found out that one of apx 5-10 rounds did not go off. If I tryed it for the 2. time, apx 1 of 4went off. Best T.

This ammo is 35p a round factory ammo is 60p a round, I will be buying factory in future, I can see a difference in case size I will use a micrometer on the rims and see if that's a cause for the problem.

          Thanks Neil
