My bcd 43 Mod 98...... All Matching 2707

Just purchased this bcd 43 today. The seller was put on probation and had a choice to get rid of his rifles or they will melt them .

So far all small parts are matching and as I clean the film of surface rust off I will post.

    Blue is damn near 99.8%

    Comments welcomed....

    Serial: 2707

You can see the difference in cleaning below.

Everything shown is original & proper for this maker-date Kar98k.

Did you take a photo of the barrel, and its markings?

Your stock markings are actually a "C" and an waffenamt e/18, the stock was made by a furniture maker in Dresden, they made tables and desks prior to the war. The other components were made by a number of different manufacturers, mostly in Saxony, and that is why they have different codes and waffenamts, - Gustloff Werke Weimar (bcd) was primarily an assembler when it comes to the Kar98k, they made a great many things during the war, and they were a massive facility, but in regards to the 98k they made only two items, and then only rarely. A few barrels and even rarer are stocks, neither are commonly found.

Your barrel will most likely be made by Ruhrstahl or FN, most barrels made by Gustloff were made in 1944, though a very few are known for 1943. Other barrel sub-contractors are known, though rare on 1943 production.

Thanks, your barrel is a FN made barrel, using a Ruhrstahl blank (raw forging).

FN was in occupied Belgium, operated by DWM during the war, they had owned FN prior to 1919, but lost their ownership (shares) after the war. They made 6-7 components for 98k production, barrels typically for Gustloff, the other components they made typically show up on Mauser (byf) & Mauser-Berlin (ar) production.
