Odd WaA88 P-38 Magazine Marking

Guys,
I have this WaA88 magazine that I got a few years ago with a byf43 pistol. Looking today I noticed what appears to be asterisk above the acceptance proof on the spine of the magazine. I assume this means that the magazine had a repairable defect of some kind?

Yes, that is the assumption at this point, same as on the P.38s.

Thanks! It is a P-38. I figured that was still the assumption, but things like that change quite frequently!
