Walther Flare Pistol - Value?

Here are some photos of what I believe is a pre-WWII Walther manufactured flare pistol. The pistol is of steel construction with a blued finish. I realize that the photos are not that great but they are all that I have access to at this time.

Does anyone have a ballpark value on this item? It is being offered to me and I was thinking $175 to $200.

Alan, I think at that price, I would buy it and clean it up. Make sure there are no marking at the rear of each side, perhaps a * or *K marking as these were used by the Prussian police. I have one near your serial number and put the production at 1933/34. I think the finish and rust hurt it quite a bit.

Hi,
It seems to be a 26 model. The conditions are not so good (maybe due to pictures) but the wooden grips seem to be OK. This model is more 'rare' to find than a 34 or Heel Model... That's my penny. For this price, take it without thinking too much ..

Ok - I got a chance to inspect and photograph the LP26 flare pistol today. It is a very well made and finished item, althought the particular example that I am being offered has condition issues due to pitting.

There are no police markings on this example (Joe W. asked me to look for Prussian "sunburst" proofs).

Any thought as to a fair value of this particular example in $USD?

I think the price you mentioned in your PM is right. You know a number of these were procured for Allgemeine SS units.
