I got mine from a privat buy, from a old man saying he got it from his father.

The 98k was dirty, and the only thing i hawe don to it is blowing of the dirt whid preasured air and cleaned it.
It is in wery god condition owerall.100% matching numbers.

In my openion, it is "the real thing", i cant se a reson for this non colector to ad any stamps.
I got it fore a fair price.

I shal try to get better pictures of it in a while.

    Best regards

The thing that concerns me though, Is the Skulls. No markings on top of one of them, and the real ones I am seeing do in fact have 2 skulls, but one has 2 runes and a 2 (SS 2) and the other has two runes above it, yours has just a 01 above. and they just look "different" than a real one I looked up.

honestly we need an expert in here
Been focused on collecting and researching SS marked and/or associated firearms for over two decades. It is true that many if not most firearms with skulls and other SS markings on them are fake. It is also true that the fakes are getting better. However, period correct examples of SS marked firearms do exist and there are several variations of skulls that were legitimately applied. The key point to remember is that it takes much more than a skull stamp on the barrel and/or pistol grip to make an SS marked firearm correct. The merits of either rifle posted here can only be determined through very detailed and in some cases part by part examination.

The rifle that started this thread looks correct to me. Having it in hand would determine as digital pics are tricky sometimes. I have seen a number of these over the years and the stamps look good. The one skull stamp looked similar minus the SS2 above it like on mine. My rifle was a direct Vet purchase straight out of the closet of a 101st airborne vet. You are correct lots of fake stamps on humped up rifles but if you study the original DH stamps you can pic the originals out from the fakes IMO.

well that seems promising then. It did look nice in terms of condition and to me the physical method of stamping looked good, I just wasn't sure about the actual stamps themselves. But that being said I bet it is a good one then

It is marked whid S/42 and a letter K underneat the rear sight. It has also a weimar eagle whid the number 63. The number is wery smal and therfore hard to read.
In front of the front sight it is marked whid S/42K and something in a square maby P 7.

on the left side of the resiver it is marked "crown" and letters St.m.G and underneath that it is stamped "crown" and letters N 122gr, i am not shure about this 122gr as they are in the area were the woodstock begins.

It has no oder markings on the woodstock than the totenkopf and SN and a smal letter A on the right side 2cm stright infront of the bolt lever arm.

On the metal butplate on the woodstock it is marked 1. 84. and underneath that is the SN (15).

Hope this tells something as the pictures in these areas are not so good.

            Regards

In some pictures it looks as it has a brownish shade in some parts, but in hand it looks black? Not the best pictures but hope they tell something.
