    J.P.Sauer & Sohn 38H

I have come in the possession of a Sauer 38H semi-automatic pistol. Patent #271815. I believe it to be Police Issued; 32 Cal; German make. We have letter where the firearm has been in the possession of one individual since at least 1955 when he imported it from the U.S. to West Drayton, Middlesex. Letter is from the Provost Marshal giving him permission to import it and 50 rounds of ammunition. I am interested in selling the firearm and was interested in its value, if anyone had knowledge of such.

If you can post a picture I would be interested in your Sauer 38h. From another Florida Collecter.

Prices vary a lot depending on different factors. Just saw a very early eagle stamped 38h go for 3k usd (earliest known eaglestamped serial) and others i have heard go for 250 usd. Serial number should be matching and the police model magazines should be serial stamped as well to match the gun. An original holster improves pricing as well. There is a 38h beeing auctioned on eGun atm, that could probably be used as an indication when the auction ends on the 17th. Serial on this is 294042. Link to auction follows. Best of luck with finding a buyer.

What was the serial of that earliest known E/N stamped Sauer 38H?

I have a s/n 266xxx which is still C/N stamped. It came with two original mags and an Akah DRGM holster, but I assume it is normal civilian pistol as the mags are not numbered.

I think Sudsy was a flash in the pan. One post looking for info and gone. Waste of time.

Currently, 269275 is the earliest known having eagle/N proofs - 269257 still has crown/N proofs.

Numbered mags are present only on some police accepted Sauer model Hs - vast majority has no numbered mags.

                Regards

I think 271 thousand range may be in the Double Eagle 37 series, that is the first few thousand army guns. does it have two eagle over 37 marks on the trigger guard?

Those looking for spare parts could try looking here. Just ordered two original magasines matching my serial range and a repro grip so I wont ruin my originals Looks like they have a nice selection of parts for various firearms.

                          38H with import document

Guys. I have recently come into a 38H that has it's original matching serial numbers and the quartermaster document clearing the GI to bring it back to the states. I plan on adding this to a display case but I saw this post and thought I'd throw up the pic for you all.
