My friend has found a scope he believes came from a K98 rifle. He is working on pics as we speak, but as for right now all I know is it is marked "DOW" (Czechoslovak wartime manufacturer) and also has "Voigtlander" stamped on it. I know nothing of scopes, but the only DOW marked scope I can find reference to is for the semi auto G41-43 rifle. Can anyone help with a fair price I should pay if all correct? Has no attachments, in excellent original condition. Also, how difficult would it be to find preferably original mounts (or repro)? Will post pics when I receive them. Thanks all!

There are mainly two types of "dow" scopes for K98k. One is, as you mention, "GwZF4" (later renamed "ZFK43"), mainly for G/K43 rifle but some were used on K98k with a "Swept Back" mount. I believe it is hard to get one even for a repro. Another is a large 4-power scope with a center elevation ring. I don't know its name. It used Double-Claw mount or Long Side Rail mount.
I have never seen a dow scope with "Voigtlander", so I am interested in seeing your pictures.
