British Lewis gun in use with the WH

Does anyone have pictures of the British WWI vintage Lewis machinegun being used by the Germans during WWII?

Also looking for pics of it in use ca. WWII era with a spade grip carrying handle attached to the barrel.

Lewis Gun

Simon, There are several picts of the Lewis gun in use with the German Volkstturm. Also the Dutch 6.5 Model 20 Lewis Gun with the spade grip.. I have several boxes of 6.5 Dutch ammo manf. by the Germans in 30 round boxes marked fur M.G. wfg

This is one of the dutch Lewis abreviations in service with german rearguard troops.

Captured Weapons

Hi Smon

There is a newsreel of the Berlin Volksturm being sworn in by Goebbels I think in early 45.

Part of this footage is a march past by the Volksturm units and some Lewis guns appear along with dozens of other captured weapon types.

It crops up quite regularly on UKTV History as part of the end of the 3rd Reich type documentaries they show, it was used just last week in the "Nazis a warning from History" series but has been used in many other programmes as well.

Hi.

Lewis was also in service in Latvian Waffen SS, same as LeeEnefields. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures. Some Lewis were in Lithuania too.
