Removing Chrome

Someone chromed a bolt body on a K98...is there any way to remove the chrome finish? Thanks!

It is my understanding if you soak it in hoppes the chrome will come off if it is nickel, but if you call a local metal finishing shop they probably have a quicker way

If you wipe it with dilute Hydrochloric acid ( found in some strong toilet cleaners) this will take the chrome finish straight off. This is the chemical used by most metal re-finishers. Wash the item in water immediately as this stops the chemical action.
Wear glasses and gloves....Be careful, and dont do it in the kitchen as it removes the finish from taps, stainless steel sinks and any other metal finishes.
