    JP Sauer 38, Eagle N?

What is the Eagle N mean? Picked this one up a while a go, not a bad price, came with wartime holster...Guy I bought it from said Eagle N was for police...was he right? In any event, not a bad addition to the collection.

You don't show the Eagle/N, but that was the nitro proof first used about April of 1940. The Eagle/C you show is the police acceptance mark.

The Eagle/N was not police, but the Eagle/C is. The Eagle/N is the Nazi commercial proof.

          Johnny is correct.
The Sauer 38H will always have the commercial proofs on the right side. (except for some very late war guns that were never proofed in the factory). The military, or police proofs are added to those that were purchased by the military or police units off of the commercial production line.

Looks like a nice looking Police Sauer btw!

A small point, but the E/N proof was introduced by the new proof law in January 1940.

It seems the E/C is very common on these.
Thats all I ever see them marked..
