    Values - MGZ40 and K98 grenade launcher

    Hi there.

Sadly, my credit card bills have got the better of me and I need to sell a few things to help ease the problem.

I'd prefer to sell them for a fair up-front price rather than mess around with auction sites, and I'd be very grateful for any ideas you can give me as to value please as I've had them a long time and can't remember what I paid.

I have an MGZ40 scope in its tin - both have clearly been post-war painted in feldgrau over the original dunkelgelbe. It's a good job, and looks OK, but I would probably have stripped it back to the original paint if I'd had the time. The optics themselves are slightly cloudy - no real surprise there. There are none of the extras in the tin, and no strap. I know it's very hard to suggest a value without pics, but even vague ballpark figures for tip top condition examples would be helpful as I'm happy to make my own judgement once I have an idea - thanks in advance!

I also have a K98 grenade launcher set that I want to sell - it has been deactivated in the UK, so it would be for UK sale only. It's in beautiful condition - cup, site, spanner and case. Ideas as to it's likely value in the UK would be much appreciated.

Finally, I have some inert grenades for it - anti-tank; parachute flare and HE - the HEs come in their cardboard cases. Again, UK values would be a real help.

Thanks very much in advance for any info you can give.

    Nigel.

    Hi,

mgz40 expect offers around £1000-£1500 dependant on condition as they are quite sought after. thats the next item to get on my list. I am unsure on the k98 grenade launcher though however, i had one once i got from germany i paid £150 for it just the launcher on its own, and it wasnt deactivated.

Thanks very much for the input, Phil.

I'll have a surf around and a think before I decide what to do next.

Any other suggestions as to values would be greatly appreciated.

              Hi David.

I have taken some pics, but it may well test my technical abilities to post them on the forum - I'll have a bash in the next day or two and see how I get on - I've been putting this off for years, but now I guess is the time to bite the bullet.

              Watch this space!!

              Cheerio,

              Nigel.

                Posting pics.

Hi Nigel, have you checked out the pinned thread in the Community Forums> testing and techinical section entitled "How to attach images to your post" quite easy once you get the hang of it. I'm not PC savvy enough to post the link though! Look forward to seeing your pictures, are you going to sell the sight? Regards David.

I can only comment on the European continental market: dealers ask for a complete kit around 900 euro... (so take 1/3 off this price)

                    Thanks David and DMV.

David - I'll have a read of that thread and see what I can do in terms of photos, and yes, sadly, I will have to sell, but I'm going to keep my MGZ34, so all is not lost!

DMV - thanks for the info - that's the sort of value I was hoping to hear.

                    Cheerio,

                    Nigel.

David - as requested - and assuming that I've got this right - here are some photos of my MGZ40. As I mentioned, it has been given a post-war repaint over the original Dunkelgelbe - it's a pretty good job, but I wouldn't be surprised if a patient sole could take it back to the original with nail varnish remover or similar. Judging by the inside of the tin, this has been in the hands of the Norwegian army at some point, and then the top coat has been added after that. Here goes with the photos - wish me luck!
