My New Pistol - French SACM Modèle 1935A - Waffen proofs

I bought this today off of a guy who lived a couple of streets over. It is a French-made Modèle 1935A with German proof marks from when they took the factory over. There are no import marks on this weapon. I was having a hard time finding any good information on this gun other than the history of it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the serial number (and letter for that matter...is it a 'C', 'L', or 'e'??), the approximate year of the gun, etc.

Does anyone know how much this pistol is worth? I paid $130 for it.

I took apart the pistol and found another eagle and swastika on the barrel. The gun is far from perfect and appears to have quite a bit of slide wear from the what appears to be, the holster. The barrel is however, very good as is the frame, in which it retains most of the paint, unlike the slide.

Any info on this specific would be much appreciated!

Hard to see from the photos but the slide appears to have been polished? Or the finish removed. Should be a black paint finish I believe.

The letter is a "c" estimated production (Jan Still) 23,300

I would value it at $350 to $400 if all matching. You got a great deal!

      You stole that one.
I paid $400 for mine but it came with 100 round of 32. French long which is almost impossible to find, and when you find it they are asking $2 a round.

        $130 . . . beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

        Technical data:
        Caliber: 7,65 mm long
Function: Browning 1st variation; hammer outside; slide catch
        Barrel length: 110 mm
        Weight: 739 g
        Magazine capacity: 8 rounds
        Production data:
        Company:S.A.C.M. (Societe Alsacienne Construcion Mechanique)
        Location: Cholet, R.F.
        Period:1940 - 1944
        Amount: 24,000
        Serial numbers:B701A - D4550A

The M1935A is split in 2 major variations, according to the acceptance stamp.

        "Variation 2", Acceptance E/WaA251.

        Characteristics:
        Legend: Mle 1935_A S.A.C.M.
Finish: Highpolish-finish, phosphated and black painted
        Grips: chequered plastic grips
Serial number: 4-digit number with Prefix left on frame
        2-digit number inside slide
Acceptance stamp: E/WaA251 left on frame
Test proof stamp: E/HK left on barrel

Yours is a second variation. The letter is a stylized C in my opinion.

Thanks for the info fellas. The slide has not been polished. It definitely looks like it has been worn away as the polish is hit or miss. It still retains some of the original paint that was on the slide, but it is very little. I think I read somewhere that it was fairly common for the paint to start to wear away a little, so I'm hoping that this doesn't kill the value of it.

It took almost a year, but I had some luck back in the Fall finding a few rounds for a friend - all Thanks to this fellow:

A friend gave me a box of it but I didn't need it and didn't know what it was. Traded it off for next to nothing..

Very nice. For a wartime issue I'd say $350ish. Postwar ones are $250-300. Too bad about the finish on the slide but still very nice overall!
