    K98 Dou 45

    Hi,
I am looking at a mauser k98 DOU 45. I had a chance to closely examine it and the bolt matches the number marked on the barrel. Looking at the other parts they match as well. It has waffenmarks, They are visisble with only the swastika peened out. It has no other marks on it. The bolt has an electro penciled 45 on it. It appears to be a russian capture. The bore has a mirror polish and is in good shape. What are the chances that the bolt and the gun stayed together. It comes with a what looks like original sling and cleaning rod and has the hood sight. The guy wants 400.00 what do you think. This is my first foray in into ww2 firearms. It did some research into it and it seems the rcs are usually miss matched.
    Thanks

I have been looking at internet boards for over 5 years and have never seen an RC with a receiver actually matching its bolt - not counting forced matched/fakes.

$400.00 sounds very good at this time... better inspection in hand once you get it, might be a better than typical russian capture you found. hence worth more.
I did find/ buy a russian capture that some how escaped the typical rebuild program; actually turned out to be all matching ,never re blued , ect.

But agree with what you found & what Rogerbh stated, most are miss matched from top to bottom , specially the bolts.
Which I find odd , as they did Not do this with the hand guns. most of those are all matching. Russians , go figure.

            MORE InFO

            Hi,
I got the gun today. The funny thing was that it has a byf marked magazine plate with the same number stamped on it as the bolt and reciever. The only part that doesnt match is the upper barrel band, which has a much higher serial number. It also has a nice eagle under the bolt. I was wondeing how the byf part got there with the same serial number. I had the headspace prof checked out and all is good. I cant wait to shoot it. I have to go buy some ammo. So I am into it for 450 now. Other than that I am happy it has some decent waffen marks.
            Thanks

              Posting pictures would help.
I've never seen a matching RC.
