    20mm drum value?

A friend has a 20mm drum magazine for an MG FF. This gun was used in many Luftwaffe aircraft such as Me109, Fw190, He111, Ju88, Do17, and Do217 from 1935-1941. By 1941 it was being replaced by the MG151/20. However, it made a comeback in 1943 by being the preferred cannon for th Me110 night fighters.

My question is, what is one of these mags worth today? It's in very good condition, and has several "eagle/2" and Luftwaffe proofs on it.

    thanks in advance!

I remember seeing 2 or 3 for sale last year but unfortunately I didn't take not of the price.

One such magazine went in auction at 180euros half year ago.And it was not even "mint" condition.

This one is not mint, but I would say very good-excellent condition!

Matt - sounds like a very interesting and "rare" item, but (IMO) difficult to price because on the "demand" side of the supply/demand equation you have to wonder just how many people want and/or need such an item? Seriously, how many people have a MG FF and just happen to need a drum for it?

There should be some interest, I would think, even from non-MG FF owners who just think it is a "cool" item. I'm sort of in this categoy and, by way of example, have a 20mm Flak 38 20-shot mag, even though I do not currently (and likely never will) own a Flak 38. I paid $75 for my Flak 38 mag, via this Forum. I would think the MG FF drum to be much less common than the Flak 38 mag.

It will be interesting to see what valuation ideas are floated around here. Also, with the Eagle/2 inspectors markings we know that the drum in question was made by Krieghoff (who played a key role in WWII German aircraft armament production).

Please post some photos when you get a chance.

I happen to be one of those who has a MGFF but not a drum. If anyone is looking to sell a reasonable quality drum (doesn't have to be mint), please contact me!

            Thanks!

I happen to have the Luftwaffe manual translated for the MG-FF. It's listed on my website gun manuals page.

I know someone who has two guns, and one small and two large drums to go with them. Haven't seen him for a few years, though.

I happen to be one that dug out a crashed Messerschmitt 109 and found one MG-FF without a drum, but once cleaned I had to hand it back to the Spainish Air Force Drums show up around once or twice every year.
