    Question on a Browning 1922 .380 Bringback

I received a call from a fellow who had a gun that had come through the family following the war. It turns out that it's an early Browning 1922 in .380. I pulled my Axis Pistols and determined the proper serial range for these. I haven't seen it yet but he believes it's in either the 16,000 or 18,000 serial range. He also said it was marked with a crown. Axis Pistols shows a crown marked early 1922 as a Dutch Army contract but these should be in th4 63-64000 range if I read correctly.

If the gun is in respectable condition, what would be a fair price to give for one of these? I've bought a number of the 7.65 examples through the years, but this one is undoubtedly less common. It includes a holster but not extra mag. I hope to see it later today and I will take pictures.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance!

Sounds like one of the Yugoslavian contract? The serial range and caliber is correct, and the Yugo crest on the slide has a crown...

If so, you'd need to determine if it was marked for officers or NCO's among other things. I have a book that puts them just to the high side of early TR marked guns, but recently saw one at auction for about 2x what I would expect a similar TR gun to go for.

To confirm over the phone, ask about cryllic text on the slide.

Like it was already said, it could be Yugoslavian. These are mine.

Thanks so much for the info. So if this does turn out to be Yugoslavian, then $500 to $600 would be an acceptable price? (I know the condition most likely will not be nearly as nice as yours) I ask the pricing question because he inferred he would sell it for around that amount.

One I paid $400 and the other one $375. And they both came from gunbroker. If the holster is original Yugoslavian it would be worth $500 for rig. But being that you are buying locally I would not be buying that much.
